PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

There are educational activities planned for the entire day for children in this age group, both in their "home" room and a separate preschool classroom. In their home room, activities include utilization of gross motor equipment, dramatic play materials, art activities, fine motor manipulative materials and sensory perceptual materials.

Kiddie Korral offers two options for preschool:

• 4 - 5 year olds: offered Monday-Friday 9am - 2pm, with a 3-day weekly minimum.
  This program focuses on preparing your child for kindergarten and will take field trips throughout the year.
• 3 year olds: offered Monday-Friday 9am - 2pm, with a 3-day weekly minimum.
  This option is similar to the program for the 4-5 year olds, but it is geared to the younger age.

Throughout the school year, our children participate in activities and projects that focus on reading and math readiness, language skills, social studies, science, music and art. We strive to develop both gross and fine motor skills. We also emphasize social skills (such as learning to share and decision making), as well as physical skills (manipulation of small and large objects to develop eye-hand coordination) and much more. A Spanish teacher comes every week, and the older preschool classes take monthly field trips to places such as the post office and the apple orchard. We also have monthly visits from a librarian and other special speakers.

Each class is taught by a certified teacher who is assisted by an aide. Classes begin in September and end in June. The highlight of the year is our evening preschool graduation program, which is always well-attended by proud parents, families and friends.
